I want you to know…

I’m sorry for the gap in posts. I started this blog so that you could one day look back at everything that was going on as you grew up, and I was pretty consistent for a while. Then life took me away. Or, more specifically, I’ve been spending my time working and with you and mom, with little time left to write about it. I guess that’s not the worst thing then, is it?

You’re 4.5 years old now, and I’m amazed by you every single day. You ask about 1,500 questions a day (I’m not even really exaggerating), and while it can be pretty exhausting trying to come up with answers for each of them, I’m so happy that you have a curious mind. Your thirst for knowledge is inspiring and is only surpassed by your kindness and generosity. Just the other day, you had a friend over to play and you tried to give him your Captain America T-Shirt – not because you didn’t want it anymore, but because you wanted him to have it. I beamed with pride over that. I’m blown away every single day as I watch you grow into the person that you’re going to become. I love that you’re my little buddy. We go places together and talk and experience new things – taking you ice skating was a highlight for me,  and I’m so excited to continue doing that. Just this morning you asked if we could go and play in the snow, go sledding (with me as the sled!) and have a snowball fight. Next winter, pal!

I want you to know that I think you’re amazing. I want you to know that I’m proud of you. I want you to know that I’ll always be there for you. I want you to know that your smile lights up the world, so never miss an opportunity to let it shine. I want you to know that you can always talk to me – I’ll always be there to listen. I want you to know that I love you even when I’m upset with you. And, I want you to know that you’re truly a good person. Don’t ever forget that.
