This past weekend was fantastic! I actually had a Saturday night off and the plan was to spend the day as a family and the night with Cherise.
We woke up on Saturday morning and I made pancakes for us. (I know, Sunday is pancake day, but what could I do? They were in high demand…). After we ate breakfast, I got ready and took Jacob to the park so Cherise could get ready. We searched for pine cones and I mistakenly told him they were acorns. He found two of them and was saying “acuhn” all day long. It was adorable.
Cherise called me when she was finished getting ready and we left the park to go pick her up. We were off to the pumpkin patch to have some fun and hopefully get a pumpkin.
First stop was the carousel (those of you who’ve been following along know that he LOVES the carousel). From there, we walked around a little bit, but it was so hot (91 degrees in October. Anyone who says climate change doesn’t exist is an idiot) that we had to stop. We went over to the small pumpkin patch to have Jacob pick out a pumpkin of his own. He pointed and said “pum!”
He found the pumpkin that he wanted and brought it to the front. Then we decided to try and find one for ourselves. So off we went to the bigger pumpkins. We let Jacob loose. He ran all around the pumpkins and sat in the dirt and started putting dirt all over the pumpkins. He was saying “bim!” (for “big one”) He got FILTHY. It was really cute though!
We decided to wait on our pumpkin purchase, so we went home and we all took a nap. It was really nice.
Cherise and I got to spend a nice evening together. I can’t tell you how nice it was to have a Saturday off. (Don’t get me wrong, I love working; I just really enjoy a night in every so often!)
Sunday brought some unexpected twists – in a good way. The plan was to go and meet Cherise’s aunt and uncle for lunch down in Orange County (about 75 miles from home). We figured Jacob would nap in the car. He didn’t.
We got there and had a nice lunch. Right when we finished, I got a call from a friend asking me if I could work an event in Beverly Hills at 6pm. It was 3:15 and I was an hour and forty minutes from home. I said “Let’s do this!”
We hopped in the car and raced back home. On the way, Jacob was so tired, but still refused to sleep. He finally passed out, but not before crying about the fact that he was about to sleep. He’s a riot.
We got back, I dropped them off and got back in the car and raced over to Beverly Hills to MC a birthday party for 40 kids.
Needless to say, by the time I got home I was exhausted. Jacob was in bed already (obviously) and I missed him. Thankfully, I got some more quality time with Cherise.
Oh, and today, I gave him a haircut.
‘Cause I’m crazy like that.
Thanks for reading.
Love,
Jacob’s Daddy
Sounds like an awesome time. 91 F at end of October is crazy.
